The flood of everyday life pushes me farther and farther away from Him if I don’t turn around and make it work in a realistic way. The same thing is true about my relationship with God. When we stop making an effort, we start to feel distant and distracted. It’s tough work, fighting against the entropy of stress, fatigue, and screaming toddlers that threatens to pull us apart. We go out on lunch dates when I’m working at the office…we catch up while washing the dishes…we watch baseball together…anything we can do to stay connected. We don’t have the luxury of lazy afternoons anymore, which means we squeeze in our time together between work, kids and home projects.īut we make it work. More than ten years later, things are a little different. ![]() ![]() We walked to class together, went on dates where we held hands and talked about nothing for hours. When I first started dating my husband, we spent as much time together as we could.
